Product Safety

These safety instructions are part of the construction plan and refer to the megawood® decking system with VARIO FIX and the megawood® decking system with CONCRETE KERBSTONE.
They contain important information on the mounting and use of our products. Read the assembly instructions and, in particular, the safety instructions carefully before setting up, mounting and using the products. The instructions, prohibitions and regulations in the assembly instructions must be followed at all times and all safety instructions must be observed. Use the product exclusively in accordance with these instructions to avoid injury or damage. Do not carry out any improper modifications or repairs. If you pass the product on to third parties, you must also pass on the assembly instructions and safety instructions.

The user is solely responsible for damage resulting from improper use and failure to observe the warning and safety instructions. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper mounting and/or improper use.

If you wish to carry out the mounting yourself, you should have the appropriate expertise. The applicable occupational safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed. To prevent accidents, ensure that unauthorised persons, especially children, are not in the immediate vicinity during mounting.

Explanation of safety instructions

Intended use

    • Our products are designed as decking boards, façade elements, fence systems, construction timber or garden furniture for outdoor use. However, they can also be used indoors.

    • Please observe the specified temperature range of -30°C to +50°C.

    • The products must not be installed completely under water and must remain free of contact with the ground. Ensure adequate rear and bottom ventilation.
    • Our products are made of flammable materials and some are normally flammable or flame-retardant. Therefore, please refrain from using open flames near the product. Keep a safe distance from hot objects and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of barbecues, fire pits, etc.

Transport and Storage

    • The product is delivered stacked on wooden pallets and securely packed in plastic film. If stacked units slip, this may result in impact or crushing injuries.

    • When using transport and lifting equipment, the applicable occupational safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.

    • Caution: The strapping bands are under tension, so open the packaging carefully. Using a knife or other sharp, pointed object may damage the product parts.
    • Therefore, wear personal protective equipment consisting of safety gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles when unpacking.

    • Store the parts and accessories in a well-ventilated, dry place that is protected from the weather. Also protect the parts from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, moisture and contact with the ground.

Mounting

    • Please wear safety shoes and protective gloves when unpacking and mounting. Safety goggles are required when drilling, sawing and milling.

    • Note: Please observe the usual guidelines for lifting and carrying loads. Failure to do so may result in injury or musculoskeletal disorders.

    • Carry long products upright and with at least two people to prevent them from bending.
    • After unpacking, immediately check that the delivery is complete and that all parts are in perfect condition. Do not set up the product if the delivery is incomplete or parts are defective. Damaged parts can compromise safety and functionality.

    • Ensure that your workplace or assembly site is clean and tidy, and that you have a secure footing and sufficient space to move around.

    • When using hand-held power tools, observe the applicable occupational health and safety and accident prevention regulations, as well as the manufacturer's operating instructions.

    • Proceed carefully during mounting and follow the assembly instructions. Carelessness can result in crushing your fingers.

    • Disassembly must be carried out in reverse order according to our assembly instructions.

General safety

    • Do not allow children to play with the components and packaging material without supervision. They could injure themselves or swallow small parts.

    • Observe the maximum traffic loads (area and individual loads).

    • Do not step onto the deck if damage is visible. Carry out repairs properly and in accordance with our instructions.

    • Heavily soiled or icy surfaces are slippery. Therefore, clean the surfaces regularly or as required. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Follow our cleaning recommendations in the megawood® terrace pass and online here : Care instructions.

“Today's product is tomorrow's raw material.”

GCC is a valuable raw material that we use to manufacture new products. Therefore, please return the product to one of our return dealers at the end of its service life. We will collect it and send it to our ‘NOVO-TECH Circular’ recycling plant for recycling. You can find a return dealer near you using our online search.

We would be delighted if you would register your project or property with us. This will enable us to track where our ‘raw material of tomorrow’ is being used. Once the service life has expired, we will contact you regarding the return and recycling of the material. You can find the online form here. This helps you avoid waste, CO2 emissions and conserve natural resources!

Our packaging materials are also recyclable and therefore valuable raw materials. Packaging that is no longer required should therefore be separated and disposed of properly at your local waste disposal facility.
